How is Restylane made? Restylane is the first and only dermal filler made from non-animal based hyaluronic acid. This is the natural substance which exists in the “dermis” (middle layer) of the skin in humans. Its purpose is to provide fullness and volume to the skin. As we age our ability to manufacture our own “fillers” decreases. Restylane is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA – is biodegradable and completely compatible with human hyaluronic acid.
How safe is it? Perfectly safe! There is no risk of animal based disease transmission or allergic reaction – because it is non-animal based and fully bio-compatible with our body’s own natural substance. Plastic surgeons worldwide have been using it for over 10 years with only positive results!
How are treatments done? Using a tiny needle – Restylane is injected into the skin in small amounts. Gentle massage optimizes contouring of the gel. Once injected the gel integrates into dermal tissue where it attracts and binds to water molecules to help restore fullness (erase wrinkles and folds) and maintain that volume.
How many treatments are needed and how long do the results last? Typically patients get treatments twice a year since each treatment usually lasts 6 months. Restylane lasts twice as long as Collagen!
